This issue of the CTTA focuses on terrorism in Africa. More specifically, it zeros in on the following topics – 1) the derailing of the Lamu Port – South Sudan – Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) project, primarily because of the security threats posed by Al Shabaab; 2) the terrorism threats now facing Mali and Nigeria and how these two countries are trying to deal with them; and 3) the local and regional security implications of Boko Haram’s recent pledge of allegiance to the so-called Islamic State.
