This brief examines an essay by Russian political analyst Andrew Korybko on why Pakistan is gaining a pivotal place in Russian geopolitical strategy. More specifically, the author details how Korybko's essay deals with 1) Pakistan's rising geopolitical importance in Eurasia and its potential to help further economic integration in Eurasia; 2) the key imperatives for Russia to build a strong strategic partnership with Pakistan as well as Moscow's efforts to expand ties with Islamabad; and 3) the ways in which the US can attempt to prevent Pakistan from becoming more involved with Eurasian economic integration.
