This paper looks at the importance of developing accurate indicators for SDG 16 which addresses the core issues of violence, organized crime and corruption and is a core part of the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" adopted by UN member states in September 2015. The authors unerscore the importance of developing the best possible global indicators for SDG 16 despite this task being politically delicate and practically challenging. Neglecting SDG 16, they warn, would have grave consequences for the whole Agenda.
