This commentary considers whether the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which is now the world’s largest regional trade agreement, will bring the World Trade Organization's (WTO) multilateral agreements on international commerce to an end. As the text’s authors see it, the TPP could actually function in parallel with the WTO, although concerns have been raised over whether the former could be used as a strategic tool by the US to contain China.
