This commentary describes the dangers al Qaeda in Yemen poses to the Arabian Peninsula and the West. In particular, the text's author clarifies 1) the origins of the organization; 2) why it has become so dangerous, both locally and abroad; and 3) its ongoing competition with the so-called Islamic State in Yemen.
