This commentary argues that Russia’s pivot towards China could negatively affect German and EU interests. To counterbalance this development, the text's authors recommend that the latter 1) resume pragmatic cooperation with Russia; 2) offer states in the Eurasia alternative courses of action; 3) prevent the further securitization of economic and energy relations in the region; and 4) push for the broader inclusion of influential states on both the regional and global level.
