This report explores the state-building, stabilization and counterterrorism efforts performed by three outside stakeholders in Afghanistan. After highlighting the factors that have contributed to conflict and violence within the country, the text's author 1) lays out the roles played by the US, the United Kingdom and the European Union; 2) identifies the peace- and conflict-related consequences of their actions; and 3) stresses the lessons they've learned and how their hard-won knowledge can be used by others in the future.
