This paper considers how India can exploit its soft power and favorable image to improve its relations in Central Asia. Accordingly, New Delhi should 1) establish close strategic bilateral partnerships with the states in the region; 2) capitalize on its close ties with Russia to advance regional security cooperation; 3) increase its area-specific collaboration with China; 4) overcome its policy-distorting preoccupation with Pakistan; and 5) consolidate its status as a normative power.
