This brief looks at the Republic of Marshall Islands’ (RMI) pursuit of justice for those victimized by past nuclear testing. (RMI has brought suit against nine nuclear powers at the International Court of Justice [ICJ] for breaching their legal obligation to eliminate their nuclear arsenals.) In particular, the brief's author wonders whether such a judicial intervention, in the absence of any political stimulus, can make a meaningful difference to the global disarmament movement.
