This commentary assesses the performance of the UN Force Intervention Brigade that was sent to Congo with an explicit mandate to neutralize armed groups. It concludes that 1) the brigade isn't an operational and organizational model worth replicating in the future, and 2) the idea that using more force will automatically solve peacekeeping's problems is an illusion.
