This paper examines Daesh’s past, present and future impact on regional stability. Despite the large number of actors involved in trying to defeat this murderous group, their underlying goals and motives continue to not coincide. Given this truth, any post-Daesh order will most likely face two significant problems – 1) the reorientation of its fighters, and 2) a complex security environment that complicates the pursuit of inclusive governance.
