This comment examines how the EU might restore its out-of-area prominence and buttress up the Atlantic Basin’s economic potential, primarily by formulating a trade agreement with Mercosur. Such a deal would provide European states an opportunity to export more manufactured goods to South America, but perhaps at the cost of protecting its agricultural sector.
