This report examines the content and outcome of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which was organized by the International Union of Telecommunications (IUT) and took place in Geneva in December 2003. The report focuses on the principles defended by NGOs in this context, namely freedom of expression, cultural and linguistic diversity, democracy and good governance. The set-up of a digital solidarity fund to ensure equal access to information and communication technologies is also discussed.
