Feb 2005

This publication examines the 2005 World Economic Forum (WEF), which adopted themes usually promoted by NGOs, namely development, poverty, equity and environment. The authors of this report focus particularly on the Open Forum, organized by the WEF and Swiss church organizations, where the local public could meet with WEF members and discuss issues such as child labor, corporate social responsibility or humanitarian aid. The Public Eye on Davos, the main counter-WEF event criticizing mainly transnational corporations (TNCs) and the street protests is also discussed.
