This report compiles the views of Lebanon, the occupied territories and Israel on the crisis in Lebanon in June/July 2006. It provides an overview of the many dimensions to the explanation of why the abduction of Israeli soldiers escalated into a deep conflict. The authors suggest that only a diplomatic and political approach can defuse the twin crises in Lebanon and Palestine. This has to be followed by actions that address the root causes of the conflict, such as a serious reform of the Lebanese political system or the promotion of the Hizbollah's political transformation.
