This paper analyzes how the US military deals with technological change. The author provides a historical overview of the technological developments of land warfare ranging form the US Civil War to the First Gulf War in 1991. The paper describes a wide range of new technologies and tactics and their impact on warfare. The author concludes that technology and the ability to handle it may be increasingly important, but normal soldiers will always win or lose wars.
