This paper examines the status of the US-NATO forces in the Mediterranean after the end of the Cold War. The author describes the role of the United States military in the force as well as future structural changes and threats. The paper concludes that the disappearance of the Warsaw Pact threat in the Mediterranean region has not eliminated the need for US and NATO forces there.
