This paper discusses the relationship between NATO countries and the former Soviet satellite states in Central Europe. The author provides a historical overview of the relationship and explains how different countries deal with defense reform in the post-Soviet era. The paper also discusses the issue of NATO expansion in Central and Eastern Europe.
