This report examines two parallel trends that tackle the global waste problem. The first tendency, largely inspired by the green and corporate social responsibility movements, directly targets wasteful practices of industries. The second trend is more strongly rooted in the social and environmental justice movements. NGOs operating in this realm focus on creative, practical approaches to increasing living standards through decreasing waste-related environmental contamination. The author examines these two trends on the basis of the campaigns of beverage waste, e-waste and zero waste.
