This publication contends that Venezuela’s armed forces will play an important role in the state’s political future, as military support is vital to President Maduro’s survival, and because it would be essential to the country’s stability in the event of a political transition. As a result, the text’s authors argue that sponsors of transition talks should include military representatives in the discussions sooner rather than later.
