This paper does indeed examine the security and economic dimensions of India’s ‘Look East’ – ‘Act East’ policy. It concludes that the policy should be seen as part of a broader hedging strategy that has two key components – 1) engaging with China through various integration and cooperation mechanisms, and 2) pursuing external security cooperation with third countries through the formation of strategic partnerships.
