This paper addresses problems connected to reforming the structure of financial supervision in the EU. It discusses the challenges as perceived from the point of view of supervisors as well as those being supervised. It reviews the models and structure of financial supervision and the form of European regulatory and supervisory cooperation. Finally, it addresses the shortcomings in view of the continuing market integration and identifies possible remedies.
