This conference report focuses on the emergence of new powers like China and India, which are expected to transform the strategic landscape of the Asia-Pacific region. The panelists discuss the influence such powers are likely to exercise in the maritime domain because of the importance of the sea to the countries in the region. Among the main topics covered are maritime strategic trends in the Asia-Pacific in the 21st century, possible cooperation and confrontation among navies in the region and the increase in sea-based nuclear weapons capability.
