This publication focuses on the military aspects regarding from Sino-US competition. Key insight include 1) that China anticipates that the US will respond with harsh measures, including military undertakings, to Beijing’s efforts to reconstitute East Asia’s regional order; 2) as a result, since early 2019, China has been focusing on great power confrontation with the US, including the possibility of strategic and nuclear warfare; 3) the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has also started to implement new guidelines for training and war preparations, with special attention being paid to the quality of the training of its manpower, and more.
