This paper focuses on the necessity of transnational cooperation in order to reach state and human security in the context of globalization. The first section of the paper defines the notions of globalization and transnational crime and discusses how organized criminal groups extend their transnational activities aided by the forces of globalization. The following two sections apply this discussion to East Asia. The author concludes that deeper law enforcement and judiciary cooperation is required at a multilateral level to address some of the darker sides of globalization.
