This paper studies various air missions to determine whether unarmed aerial vehicles (UAVs) represent a disruptive technology. To answer this question it examines various air operations to establish whether UAVs have any transformative impact. It also examines the strategic implications of UAVs for small and medium powers. The research concludes that the future is likely to see a mix of manned and unmanned aircraft networked with satellites performing complex air missions.
