This paper studies the impact of the Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) on conventional defensive deterrence. The author analyzes the RMA impact of transformation on conventional deterrence in various different military scenarios. The paper concludes that the process of defense transformation is revolutionary simply because it permits the possibility of a limited conventional armed conflict between two nuclear weapons states, and as such attempts to resuscitate the role of conventional military power in international politics.
