This paper examines the Chinese perspective on the implications of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks for US-Chinese relations. The author details how the Chinese government has taken both an optimistic and pessimistic view toward US-Chinese relations and cooperation possibilities resulting directly from the aftermath of the attacks. The paper also details how the heightened global terrorist threat and the US-led war on terrorism have caused the Chinese army to adapt its future warfighting concepts and planning scenarios.
