This paper examines various "diplomacies" practiced in the Asia-Pacific region. The author states that diplomacy is more being defined by the demands of a hyper-statist reading of diplomacy and less by its day-to-day practices. He concludes that it may be more accurate to say that diplomacy is partly defined by the invasions and distortions which permanently threaten its purpose.
