This paper considers cases of shared natural resources and other environmental issues in the region that have and potentially will pose threats to regional security. In particular, it focuses on water supplies in Singapore and proposes considering regional efforts that have been made to reach a common understanding about the management of natural resources and the setting of environmental standards. The author states that environmental problems can threaten a nation's security and economy, not only at national but at regional levels as well.
