This brief argues that the extremist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 1 July 2016 was an “inflection point” in the country’s battle against terrorism. To support this thesis, the text’s author 1) analyzes the rise of violent extremism in the country; 2) considers different ways to stem the radicalization and recruitment of the local population; and 3) advocates greater regional cooperation against terrorism, if necessary with external assistance.
