This report addresses the divisions among rival Kosovo Albanian political groups and discusses how they could be overcome. The paper focuses on the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and shows how their conflict threatened the success of the Kosovo peace talks at Rambouillet in France. The paper further reviews the political divisions among Kosovo Albanians, outlines the course of the talks in Rambouillet and explores the tensions in northern Albania. The paper argues that the conflict between the various groups stems more from personal rather than ideological rivalries.
