This CTC Sentinel focuses on 1) the February 2020 far-right terrorist attack in the German town of Hanau, which targeted shisha bar customers; 2) the December 2019, terrorist attack by the Saudi Air Force Officer Mohammed Alshamrani, which killed three US Navy sailors at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida; 3) financial support from actors in the US for the so-called Islamic State; and 4) terrorist group al-Shabaab’s PSYOPS, or psychological operations, messaging. This edition of the Sentinel additionally includes an interview with Jonathan Evans, who served as the Director General of the UK Security Service MI5 between 2007 and 2013.
