This report examines political transition in Indonesia from a society ruled by a military backed authoritarian leader to a democratic one. It states that impressive political progress has been made, but the crisis is far from over. The report discusses challenges, such as constitutional and military reform, including the consolidation of civilian supremacy over the military, the implementation of regional autonomy, persecution of human rights abuses and legal system reform.
