This report features proposals for resumed cooperation between Burundi and foreign donor countries. The paper reviews the impact of Burundi’s civil war and the embargo, focusing on the humanitarian and the macroeconomic level as well as on international cooperation. Subsequently, the paper presents conclusions and discusses the rapid resumption of aid. The paper argues that international aid should become a more powerful factor pressing for the redistribution of wealth and political and economic reforms.
