This report addresses the results and implications of Zimbabwe’s parliamentary elections of 24 – 25 June 2000 and explores pressing issues that shape the country’s future. The paper outlines the different parties’ elections campaigns and reviews the results. Subsequently, the paper explores Zimbabwe’s weak economic situation and sheds light on the land issue. The paper argues that President Mugabe’s role is rather destructive, yet, the election also strengthened the democratic opposition movement.
