This report addresses the revival of Burundi's peace process that was furthered by the endorsement of the nominees for the posts of transitional president and vice-president responsible for the full implementation of the August 2000 Arusha peace agreement. The paper outlines the content of the July agreement and introduces the main stake holders. Subsequently, the paper reviews the challenges ahead of the transitional government. The paper argues that Burundi's peace process is at a turning point and has to overcome several obstacles, including the absence of a ceasefire.
