This report addresses developments in the Congolese Peace Process, where a partial agreement was reached between Jean-Pierre Bemba’s MLC (Mouvement pour la libération du Congo) and the government of Joseph Kabila. The paper reviews the negotiation process that led to the agreement and discusses its implications for Congo's future political order. The paper calls for a political accord on power sharing to finalize the agreement and for the appointment of a Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to coordinate the different dimensions of the peace process.
