This issue of the Quarterly focuses on the expansion of nuclear force structures and the growing impact of “enhanced” military technologies. The featured articles address 1) the US military’s efforts to sustain and enhance its traditional technological edge; 2) China’s growing nuclear arsenal and its security environment; 3) Iran’s “path dependent” military doctrine and its implications for security in the Middle East; 4) the contradictions that complicate defense industry reform; and 5) the fundamental prerequisites for an independent US cyberspace armed service. The issue additionally includes book reviews.
