This paper analyzes the determinants shaping the final reconciliation between Asia’s two giants, China and Japan. The first part examines the tumultuous history between China and Japan over the past 3,000 years. The second part looks at how political determinants may ultimately dominate economic determinism. Finally, the third part considers how the the Korean and Taiwan questions may affect Sino-Japanese rapprochement.
