This publication argues that the lesson China learned from the USSR’s response to the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident was exactly the wrong one: That the country’s leadership must never admit a problem and cover it up as long as possible. Indeed, the text’s author writes that this is the case with China’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak. He subsequently turns to how the international community should respond to China’s approach to the outbreak.
