Publication

This paper distills the findings and policy-relevant conclusions of research projects, sponsored by the United States Institutes of Peace, that focus on negotiation and mediation efforts to resolve conflict. The presented projects focus on the application of theory, the simulation of negotiations and internal conflicts. The paper concludes that the analysis of negotiation remains central to a wide range of topics in international conflict resolution and stresses the importance of considering ways how new approaches to negotiation and mediation can inform the practice.
