This paper analyzes the politicization of Islam in Azerbaijan by exploring both the internal societal pressures and the external influences that have shaped this phenomenon. The study also considers Islamic groups and movements in the country and state policy toward these, before concluding with recommendations for both Azerbaijan and Western governments.
