This study asks how and with what objectives NGOs address the issue of nanotechnology. The paper provides an overview of the most important actors, examines their primary areas of activity, identifies their concerns with nanotechnology and analyzes their demands. The author concludes that environmental NGOs are the most prominent groups in nanotechnology advocacy and that they are most developed in North America and the UK.
