This paper explores what the US' Greater Central Asia Partnership (GCAP) policy is, shows how GCAP differs from the policies of the EU, China and Russia and highlights what the geopolinomics inherent to GCAP are. The paper discusses the historical context of GCAP, focusing on the history of the region and the respective policy of the US. Subsequently, the paper examines GCAP and the related geopolinomics and looks at the interplay between GCAP and the policies of Russia, China, Iran and the EU. The paper argues that the applicability of GCAP will likely depend on the situation in Afghanistan.
