This paper examines the candidature of Hamid Ansari for the post of India's vice president. The paper summarizes Hamid Ansari's biography, outlines the voting procedure and sheds light on the vice president's role in India's political system. Furthermore, the paper comments on the composition of India's parliament and the major parties' position on the vice president issue. The paper argues that Hamid Ansari can be regarded as a good candidate with reasonable chances for being elected.
