This report provides an introduction to the biofuels debate by offering an overview of renewable energy, biofuelsof and NGOs in the field. It examines the push behind biofuels as well as major points of concern for NGOs in the areas of technology and climate change, social justice, human rights and environment. The author briefly looks at key NGO players, their positions and actions and highlights possibilities for making biofuels a stronger force for building healthier communities and ecosystems as well as part of a strategy to tackle global warming.
