This report constitutes a review on a course required of ninth grade students in Modesto city schools focusing on world religions and the respect of religious freedom. The authors argue that many students lacked a strong commitment to aspects of religious freedom prior to taking the course. They emphasize that public schools need to further cultivate students’ general and active respect for religious rights and liberties.
