This paper emphasizes the need for a revised US policy toward Iraq, based on the recommendations of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group (ISG). The author proposes several actions to accomplish the US mission in Iraq: to accelerate the training of the Iraqi army and police force, to pull out US combat brigades, to support Iraqi forces with intelligence, logistics and air support and to assist friendly regional powers with training. The author further argues that the ISG recommendations provide an opportunity for the nation to come together on Iraq.
