This paper explores the strategic and political implications of India's bid to acquire uranium from Australia to fuel its nuclear power stations. The paper introduces Australia's conditions to accept this offer, assesses the availability of other supplies and analyzes the related implications for the nuclear non-proliferation regime. The paper argues that India should focus toward how it best stands to gain from this deal.
